Food, culture, and creativity: short films from Italy premiere in New York

New York – The 12 finalist short films from the Food and Future video art competition, created by students from the Fine Arts Academies of Naples, Bari, and Lecce, will be screened at the Italian Cultural Institute of New York on October 15 at 6 pm.
The works, initially selected by faculty members from the respective academies, will be evaluated by a jury led by Claudio Pagliara, director of the Institute, alongside Italian and American experts in culture and food entrepreneurship. Among them: Stefano Prior and Luigi Capone, co-founders of Pensiero Mediterraneo; food writer and jury president Jacqueline Greaves; journalist and writer Flavia Pankiewicz (project coordinator); Antonella Marino, professor and art critic (artistic direction); U.S. food importer Sabbia Auriti; artist Angelo Filomeno; and architect and designer Antonio Pio Saracino.
The public will also have a say, voting for the Audience Mention of Honor. At the end of the evening, the winners of the Food and Future Prize (a plaque and €500) and the Mention of Honor will be announced. The awards ceremony will later take place in Italy at the winner’s academy.
Launched by Pensiero Mediterraneo in Rome, Food and Future promotes the work of young Italian art students internationally, encouraging them to explore themes such as sustainability, fair distribution of resources, the Mediterranean diet, and the cultural role of Italian food.
