From Monday to Friday, BigItalyFocus provides an information overview, ranged from development aid to made in Italy
An Italian pizza maker from the Calabria region has entered the global elite of pizza masters. Pietro Giovanni Tangari, known professionally as Pedro’s, has been named among the ten best pizzaioli in the world after receiving the prestigious three-star award from the Chef di Pizza Stellato Guide. The award ceremony took place on November 25 at the Grand Hotel La Sonrisa near Naples.
For Tangari, originally from Cariati in southern Italy, the achievement marks a historic milestone in a career that has steadily climbed toward excellence. Having earned his second star last year, he now reaches the guide’s highest possible distinction.
Over the years, Tangari has built an impressive résumé. He has won major national competitions, served as a technical judge at international events and acted as an instructor for aspiring pizza professionals since 2008. In 2016, he was named an official ambassador of culinary excellence by the Calabria regional government, and in 2025 he received the prestigious Golden Lion of Venice award.
According to the guide’s inspectors, who carried out anonymous visits, Tangari’s success comes from the consistent quality of his dough, the careful selection of local ingredients and an uncompromising attention to detail. His menu features over forty pizza varieties, each reflecting the colors, flavors and traditions of his homeland.
The three-star rating will remain valid throughout 2026.
