Brussels - Italy’s Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci, met with the Association of Italian Doctors in Belgium while attending the EU Council meeting of health ministers in Brussels.
The meeting took place during the “General Assembly of Italian Doctors in Belgium”, hosted at the Italian Embassy. Speaking to the association, Schillaci praised the reputation Italian doctors enjoy abroad, highlighting their professionalism and clinical skills.
“Whenever I travel abroad, I meet Italian doctors who are widely appreciated for their expertise and dedication,” the minister said.
Representatives of the Association outlined their work in supporting Italian-speaking patients and helping doctors overcome language barriers in clinical settings. They also described their efforts to build a strong network among Italian healthcare professionals in Belgium to promote the exchange of knowledge and experience for the benefit of patients.
Schillaci expressed his appreciation for the Association’s commitment and reiterated the Italian government’s intention to encourage doctors working abroad to return home. “Gaining experience overseas is valuable,” he said, “but our goal is to create conditions in Italy that make it easier and more attractive for our doctors to come back, by improving career prospects and working conditions.”
The minister also noted that substantial funding has recently been allocated to healthcare personnel through Italy’s national budget, including professional development initiatives aimed at strengthening the public health system.
