Rome – On December 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., following the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) will host the event “Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Aid: Experiences, Challenges and Perspectives” at its headquarters in Rome.
The event will feature representatives from AICS foreign offices, partner civil society organizations and institutional stakeholders committed to strengthening the rights of persons with disabilities. It aims to encourage dialogue on how humanitarian assistance can and must become more inclusive, by promoting a rights-based approach.
In today’s global context, marked by armed conflicts and protracted crises, persons with disabilities are among the most affected and, too often, the most overlooked. This initiative seeks to reflect on ongoing challenges and highlight best practices, with direct testimonies from field operations, in order to shed light on the role of persons with disabilities in emergency settings and humanitarian interventions.
Participants can register to attend either in person at AICS headquarters in Rome or online.
