Ferrara students explore European memory through art and history

Prague – Students from the Remo Brindisi Technical Institute in Ferrara will travel to Munich, Prague, and Terezin as part of the project Art to Resist: Beyond Walls in European Memory. In 2026, Ferrara students will participate in one of the “Memory Journeys” funded by the Emilia-Romagna Regional Assembly, a program carried out for over a decade in partnership with schools, municipalities, and associations to teach young people about the tragedies of the 20th century.

The project guides fifth-year students to engage in a transformative civic experience through study, commemoration, and reflection, visiting historically significant sites, from Munich, where Hitler’s ideology took shape, to Terezin, a concentration camp where children, painters, and musicians practiced a courageous form of resistance through art. Each stop is designed to connect students with history and the humanity of those who lived it, fostering understanding of dignity, freedom, and intercultural dialogue. The aim is to ensure that memory goes beyond textbooks and becomes a direct, emotional, and responsible experience.
