The institutional mission of IILA Secretary General Giorgio Silli to Colombia and Honduras concluded on 26 February, reinforcing cooperation in the fields of agri-food development, territorial governance and entrepreneurship.
In Cartagena, Silli led the IILA delegation at the second International Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (ICARRD+20), a global forum addressing land access, rural governance, food security and sustainable development. During the conference, IILA took part in initiatives organized by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), showcasing Italy’s long-standing model of Protected Designations of Origin (PDO/PGI) as a tool for creating value and strengthening rural identities.
A key moment of the mission was the inauguration of the Italy–Colombia stand, a shared exhibition space highlighting Italian and Colombian products linked to territorial identity. The stand also featured the “Productive and Sustainable Landscapes” project, funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs through AICS and implemented by IILA in partnership with regional and international research institutions.
The mission continued in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, where Silli met President Nasry Asfura during the National Assembly of the Chamber of Commerce. Meetings with the Minister of Economic Development, local authorities and business representatives focused on strengthening entrepreneurial cooperation and reaffirming the strong ties between IILA and Honduras as a member country.
