Zagreb – The exhibition Sarajevo 1992–1996 – The Longest Siege, by freelance photojournalist Marco Boccia, will remain open to the public through June 30 at the Italian Cultural Institute of Zagreb. Through a series of black-and-white photographs, the exhibition documents the harsh daily reality endured by Sarajevo’s residents during the destruction of their city. Yet the images go beyond devastation and loss, capturing moments of hope, dignity, and the quiet acts of solidarity that helped hold the community together. Boccia, who worked as a correspondent and special envoy for il Manifesto from Sarajevo, Belgrade, Pristina, Skopje, Diyarbakir, and Baghdad, spent two decades reporting from war zones and impoverished regions across Europe, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East, always seeking signs of resilience even in the bleakest circumstances.
