Nov. 8 – As far as cooperative activities between the Italian Navy and Central and Western African countries go, the "Oil Rig Protection" course for the Nigerian Armed Forces personnel is a success. The training took place in the Amphibious Training School of Calabar (Nigeria) base and was carried out by a Mobile Training Team of the Italian Navy. It involved 40 members of Special Nigerian Navy Forces and the Nigerian Army. The course, a mix of lectures and practical exercises, ended with a complex exercise conducted under the guidance of the Italian military. At the end of the training, the Commander of the Amphibious Training School, Brigadier General Mohammed Ahmed, and the Commander of the East Naval Command, Rear Admiral Joe Aikhomu, thanked the Italian navy for the efforts devoted to the activity, hoping for more professional exchanges opportunities between the two armed forces. The initiative strengthens relations between the two countries in the Defense, Industry and Energy sectors.
