An Italian at the head of Bofrost

Apr. 15 - An Italian will warm the hearts of the "cold" Straelen, a town in Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia region, where Bofrost has its headquarters. Edoardo Roncadin, 65, president of Bofrost Italy, was appointed at the head of Bofrost International, currently the most important European company in the sale of frozen foods. The company is present in 12 European countries, it has a 5 million customer base, 10 000 distribution points, 5000 vehicles and a catalog of over a thousand specialties. Its annual turnover amounts to €1.2 million. Roncadin is a Friuli-native who emigrated to Germany at the end of the 1960s in search of a better life. He became an ice cream maker, making his first encounter with Bofrost. His recent appointment is just the latest chapter in a decades-long collaboration between the Boquoi family, who founded Bofrost in Germany in 1966, and the Roncadin family, initially ice-cream supplier and then co-founder of Bofrost Italy in 1987. Since, Bofrost has become the largest frozen product supplier in Italy: a €206 million turnover in 2013, 2,000 employees, 1,000 vehicles, 48 branches and 10 call centers serving a million customers. "We started working for Bofrost to become their leading ice cream supplier - recalls Roncadin - In the mid-eighties my family and I decided to return to Italy and bring Bofrost in our country." Boquoi and Roncadin then decided to create the Bofrost Italy, owned at 40% by the Roncadin family. “This appointment comes after decades of a fruitful mutual cooperation - says Roncadin, who takes the place of Richard Crux - The group wants to act more like an international reality, intensifying cooperation with companies in various countries. It also intends to strengthen the door -to-door, considered a fundamental part of the modernization process of the company." In short, the Bofrost-Roncadin relationship will not stop here.
