Sept.19 - Vancouver is home to Corrado Calabrò, jurist, writer and poet, also President of AGCOM between 2005 and 2012. Calabrò is in Canada to promote his book of poems "Dimmelo per SMS. 112 + 1 poesie d’amore in tre versi," first published in 2011. The volume has been translated into English by Genni Gunn. The first event will take place this coming Monday, in room no. 799 of Buchanan Tower, at 1873 East Mall on UBC Campus. The experience will be repeated the following day, on Tuesday September 23 at SFU. Calabrò and Gunn will take turns reading a few poems from the book, in both languages, and copies will be made available for the public to take home. The writer published over 15 books of poetry with leading Italian publishers. His poems have been translated and published in a dozen languages. "Dimmelo per SMS" is a collection of very short poems of just three lines that offer a glimpse of love.
THE EVENT
The event was organized - as stated on the website of the Italian Institute of Culture in Vancouver - by the Consulate General of Italy and the same IIC in collaboration with Dept. of French, Hispanic and Italian Studies at UBC. The second meeting with the poet will take place at the Halpern Centre of Simon Fraser University, Burnaby Mountain, at 5pm thanks to the kind collaboration of the Department of French and Italian Studies at SFU.
