Sicim’s two Kazakh contracts are worth $120 million

Sept. 23 – Sicim is an Italian company that designs and manufactures pipeline and large systems in the Oil & Gas sector. It has recently been awarded two prestigious contracts in Kazakhstan, worth a total of $120 million, from the oil giants Chevron and Agip Kco. The company, based in Busseto, in the province of Parma, will transport oil from its Kashagan extraction plant, the largest offshore oil field in the world, and perform maintenance work on the Tengiz plant, the second largest gas and onshore oil field in Kazakhstan and the deepest in the world. The Kashagan oil field was established by an Agip KCO consortium that includes Eni, Exxon Mobil, Shell, Total, ConocoPhillips, Inpex and KazMunayGaz (KMG). Sicim had become part of the project, valued at over $ 40 billion, in its initial phase in 2003; in 2009 the Consortium officially recognized Sicim as a contractor; and the Italian company has now been called to participate in the construction of a new pipeline that will connect the central oil pretreatment plant (hub) with the extraction wells on the artificial satellite islands. The Tengiz field is worth over $20 billion and at full capacity it is expected to produce 38 million tons of crude oil per year. Sicim had already been chosen in the initial phase of the project for the construction of 110 kilometers of pipeline to transport gas from Tengiz to Kulsaray. (Red)

KAZAKHSTAN
Kazakhstan is a former Soviet Union Republic, extremely rich in energy resources: in part still untapped, oil companies have begun investing in significant projects, attracting the interest of large organizations such as Sicim. The Italian company has 1,500 employees in Kazakhstan, where it has already invested more than $50 million in facilities and equipment, aiming to play an important role in a number of projects to be implemented between 2015 and 2020.
