"Spazio Italia" was inaugurated at the New Bulgarian University (NBU) in Sofia. This is a multifunctional classroom designed to constitute a reference point for Italian teaching activities at the university and for cultural initiatives that will be organised in collaboration with all the components of the Italian network in Bulgaria (the Embassy, the Italian Institute of Culture, the ICE Agency of Sofia, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria and Confindustria Bulgaria). The event was attended by the Italian Ambassador, Stefano Baldi, who promoted the creation of "Spazio Italia", and the President of the NBU, Plamen Bochkov, who made the structure available, as well as representatives of institutions, of the diplomatic corps, and the academic world. Approximately 300 Italian books were donated to the NBU for "Spazio Italia" by the Embassy, the IIC, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Confindustria Bulgaria. A portion of the books were donated by some publishers (Loescher, Gangemi Editore SpA, Alma Edizioni, Guerra Edizioni) specialised in teaching Italian to foreigners.
