A meeting was held in recent days between the Consul General of Italy in Guangzhou, Lucia Pasqualini, and the general manager of the Guangzhou Library, Fang Jiazhong. The building is not only one of the city's main architectural landmarks, but also houses one of the most visited libraries in China since 2013.  The numbers are significant: it receives 27,000 visits a day and 900 new readers / subscribers register on a daily basis.  25,000 books are borrowed every day and the library also hosts cultural events.  The total area is 98,000 square meters and contains 8.4 million books. There are already Country Sections dedicated to books in original language. Furthermore, there is a plan for the establishment of an Italian section.
