Matera 2019, the People have the power <br> series starts in Brussels

The "People have the Power" initiative is a five-step process that Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli, in partnership with the Matera-Basilicata Foundation 2019, has devised during the Matera 2019 European Capital of Culture, to deepen the processes of participation from the bottom and analyse practices of active citizenship that at the national and European level have been able to revive communities and economies, and rediscover the value of social contract. The events in Milan, Brussels and Matera featuring international guests, investigate the possibilities of civic activism to define new forms of democracy and economy, triggering thoughts and actions capable of changing reality and generating a new quality of society. After the event in Matera, the series will continue this evening, at 19:00, at the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels with the conference "Democracy is: the power to transform reality" with Yves Sintomer, Director of the Centre Marc Bloch of Berlin. The event will be introduced by Paolo Verri, Director General of the 2019 Matera Basilicata Foundation and Spartaco Puttini of the Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Foundation followed by the lecture by Yves Sintomer, Centre Marc Bloch, in dialogue with Andrea Felicetti, Université Catholique de Louvain. At the end of the event, at the headquarters of the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels, the photographic exhibition of Nico Colucci "Matera, probable landscapes" will be inaugurated. The exhibition was organised in partnership with the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels and the 2019 Matera Basilicata Foundation.
