From Monday to Friday, BigItalyFocus provides an information overview, ranged from development aid to made in Italy
(Feb 21) - The so-called "bio-diapers" from Wip Spa are the first diapers with a certificate of biodegradability. Wip Spa presented them at the BioFach Vivaness in Nuremberg, the main worldwide fair for biological products. In the pavilion dedicated to natural cosmetics and wellness, the company from Prato has generated a lot of interest in the sector. "The numerous contacts with customers and consumers at the show - the company said in a statement - shows that the technology developed by WIP in its production, through the use of fibers derived from vegetable starch, takes care of both health and environment. All this raises an important interest and demonstrates that Italy is once again in the frontline in sustainable innovations". Diapers and sanitary towels Naturaè, produced by Wip Spa, have been approved by Astma-Allergi Danmark, the Danish association that works to protect the health of people with allergic diseases, asthma and eczema. SAVING 122 MILLIONS KG OF CO2
In Italy every year two billion diapers are produced, causing over 500,000 tons of waste products - according to data from CIC (Consorzio Italiano Compostatori) - that affects the waste collection from 5% to 8%. Wip Spa, through research and innovation, presents a novelty in Europe: the diapers become biodegradable. With EcoWip it would be possible to obtain a reduction of 122 million kg of CO2 every year and a substantial reduction of the social costs of disposal.
