Trieste to represent Italy at the European Youth Parliament

(Mar 6) - From March 23rd to April 1st, students from the High School "Antonio Petrarca" of Trieste will represent Italy at the 69th session of the European Youth Parliament (EYPEJ). Waiting for the real session in Istanbul, some classes from the high schools "Petrarca" and "Leopardi-Majorana" of Pordenone have used the council chamber of the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, in Trieste, to simulate the work of four European parliamentary committees, using both english and french, exactly how happens in the European Parliament. To greet the students, Piero Tononi, member of the regional Council, who paid the students compliments for the seriousness of the simulation and congrratules the local Committee of Trieste for the organization of the Youth Parliament. Tononi has also made a personal "good luck" to the students that will go to Istanbul. (Ram/Peg)


WHAT IS THE EUROPEAN YOUTH PARLIAMENT
The European Youth Parliament is an educational project, conceived by the Schwarzkopf Foundation, which aims to make the perfect young European. The EYPEJ encourages independent thinking and socio-political initiative among young people, and facilitates the learning of important social and professional skills. Since its opening in 1994, thousands of young people have participated to regional, national and international meetings, they have formed friendships, established international contacts and made a vital contribution towards the Europe Union. Today, EYPEJ is one of the largest European platforms for political debate, an intercultural dialogue and exchange of ideas among European young people in Europe. The EYPEJ consists of a network of 35 European associations and organizations in which thousands of young people are involved as voluntaries.
