ITA Airways signs a codeshare agreement with Emirates

Dubai - Emirates and ITA Airways recently signed an MoU to expand the current interline partnership into a full codeshare agreement. Once effective, the codeshare will enhance travel opportunities and connectivity for customers traveling between Dubai, Italy, and further destinations within their respective networks. The MoU will lay the groundwork for strengthening the partnership between the two companies, creating one-stop connections to major cities served by ITA Airways in Italy and throughout Europe, allowing for easier and faster travel via Dubai on the Emirates network, utilizing the best routes, schedules, and connections. "Strengthening our partnerships and enhancing our presence in key territories such as Europe is an integral part of our business strategy and underscores our commitment to providing customers with flexibility through the complementary networks of our partners. Close collaboration with ITA Airways will strengthen our presence in key cities in Italy and Europe. We look forward to fully activating our partnership with ITA Airways in the coming months and providing unique access to both of our growing networks," said Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates Airline. "This MoU," stated Antonino Turicchi, President of ITA Airways, "further strengthens ITA Airways' commercial growth strategy and opens up a privileged gateway for all passengers who will benefit from connectivity via Rome Fiumicino and Dubai. This agreement marks the 35th codeshare for the company, an excellent result that we have achieved in just over two years." Thanks to the codeshare, Emirates customers will be able to conveniently travel to numerous Italian cities through the company's hub at Rome Fiumicino Airport, including popular destinations such as Florence, Genoa, Palermo, and Trieste. Customers will also be able to reach European capitals such as Tirana, Sofia, and other major cities. ITA Airways customers departing from Rome Fiumicino will benefit from the numerous destinations offered by Emirates' extensive network via Dubai. Connectivity between Emirates and ITA Airways will offer combined ticketing and seamless baggage transfers. The agreement will also support inbound destinations to Italian airports from areas served by the Emirates network, including Australia, the Far East, the Middle East, and Western Asia. In a later phase, the MoU also aims to mutually extend the benefits of both companies' frequent flyer programs. Once the necessary government and regulatory approvals are obtained, codeshare flights will be progressively made available to customers through online platforms and travel agencies. (9colonne)
