The exhibition “100 Vases” moves to Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi - The exhibition "100 Vases," showcasing the history of the Italian vase from the 20th and 21st centuries, initially displayed at the Italian Cultural Institute in Abu Dhabi for the 2024 Italian Design Day, will become itinerant and move to Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi from September 19. For a week, students will be able to explore a fundamental part of Italian design history through the illustrated panels of the exhibition, featuring the production and creation of the "Italian vase" from early 1900s designers like Galileo Chini and Vittorio Zecchini to modern and contemporary designers such as Carlo Scarpa and Ettore Sottsass. The exhibition, with descriptions and images of the production, materials, and creation sites of over thirty of the most renowned Italian designers, was created in collaboration with the publishing house Skira, thanks to the contribution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. It aims to narrate the design of Italian vases from past centuries to the present day, reflecting both historical influences and contemporary challenges. The exhibition's inauguration will also be an opportunity for the Italian Cultural Institute to donate some contemporary Italian literature titles to the Sorbonne University Library, which boasts hundreds of foreign literature books in their original language.
