“Lo Spirito di Stella” approaches Australia: a milestone in the WoW project

Brisbane – The world tour of the catamaran “Lo Spirito di Stella” continues, having reached the Australian shores at dawn on Saturday, July 27. This initiative is part of the “WoW” – Wheels on Waves – Around The World 2023-2025 Project: a global voyage aboard the fully accessible 18-meter catamaran, designed for a select audience of military personnel and civilians with disabilities who have sustained permanent injuries in the line of duty. The chosen port of call is Brisbane. The arrival in Australia involved a strict immigration procedure, document checks, and inspection of the materials on board. These procedures were successfully completed on Sunday, July 28. On Monday, July 29, the catamaran underwent a hull decontamination phase, which included cleaning the hulls to remove any algae or biological elements that could be invasive to Australian shores. After the immigration procedures, the catamaran will undergo a few days of minor repairs before moving to Dockside Marina Kangaroo Point in Brisbane, where it will remain until the end of the leg, scheduled for August 22. The project was strongly supported by Defense Minister Guido Crosetto and is promoted by the Ministry of Defense, the Defense General Staff, and Difesa Servizi Spa, the ministry’s in-house company. The initiative has received moral sponsorship from CONI and the CIP (Italian Paralympic Committee) and is made possible thanks to the significant contribution of sponsors who fully share the objectives and high moral and ethical values of the initiative.
