Cairo - Federica Di Carlo, winner of the Italian Council X edition with her project "I Will Watch You Burn," will be the only Italian artist participating in the 2024 International Art Exhibition in Egypt, which will take place from October 24 to November 16 in the Giza Plateau. Di Carlo will present "I See, I See," a monumental installation that, located at the foot of the pyramids, merges phenomenology, myth, and science. Drawing inspiration from the Egyptian myth that narrates the birth of humanity from the tears of the Sun God’s eye, Di Carlo creates a device for alternative visions that rises as a gigantic observatory in the Giza Plateau. This installation utilizes the laws of physics and light to offer new perspectives on the world. Composed of a complex network of optical lenses, the structure interacts with the desert light, transforming the visual experience for spectators and inviting them to rediscover the landscape of the pyramids through a fresh lens. As a fusion of art, physics, and myth, Di Carlo's work serves not only as a tribute to ancient Egyptian civilization but also as an inquiry into our relationship with the natural and cosmic world.
