Italian-Georgian cinema collaboration in the spotlight

Tbilisi - The Italian Ambassador to Georgia, Massimiliano D’Antuono, met with Khatuna Khundadze, Merab Kokochashvili, and Giorgi Kharebava, members of the Board of Directors of Georgian Film Studio, one of the oldest film studios in the world, founded back in 1921, which has produced over 800 feature films, shorts, and TV shows, 1600 documentaries, and 600 animated films. Topics of the meeting included prospects for collaboration between filmmakers from both countries, bilateral meetings among producers, and joint initiatives. With Merab Kokochashvili, a renowned Georgian director and screenwriter, they discussed Third World, his new film that will be presented at the Berlin International Film Festival. After this year’s success of the Mestia International Short Mountain Film Festival, which had Italian mountaineer, explorer, researcher, and filmmaker Reinhold Messner as guest of honor, Khatuna Khundadze, the Festival’s director, outlined proposals for Italian participation in the next edition of the festival.
