Paving the future: Italy supports Cameroon with strategic infrastructure

Yaoundé – Seventy kilometers of paved road to connect Cameroon to Gabon: the project will be carried out by a joint venture of Italian companies Seas and Cosedil, tasked with upgrading one of the most strategic road sections in Cameroon on behalf of the Cameroonian Ministry of Public Works.

Sace has insured the €94 million export credit line provided by Deutsche Bank to the Republic of Cameroon, with additional support from Simest for stabilizing the financing at a subsidized fixed interest rate and granting a non-repayable contribution on the margin applied by Deutsche Bank.

The project entails the restoration, modernization, and expansion of the road, which is currently unpaved and impassable for several months each year. This intervention will significantly reduce travel times, facilitate access to basic services for the local population, improve their quality of life, enhance economic connectivity and trade in the region, and minimize negative environmental impacts.

Seas, a small company based in Umbria specializing in civil engineering projects in Italy and abroad, initiated the operation. Cosedil, a medium-sized civil engineering firm with its operational headquarters in Sicily, played a pivotal role in forming the joint venture. (9colonne)
