Brig - Sixteen New Projects Approved, Including 12 from Lombardy, as Part of the Interreg Italy-Switzerland Program 2021-2027
Sixteen new projects, 12 of which are based in Lombardy, have been approved under the Interreg Italy-Switzerland Program 2021-2027 during the Monitoring Committee meeting held in Brig, in the Canton of Valais. This cross-border cooperation program aims to promote integrated regional development among neighboring regions, serving as a tool to foster economic, social, and territorial progress by removing barriers between states and regions.
"Sixteen new proposals have been admitted," explained Massimo Sertori, Lombardy Region’s Councillor for Local Authorities, Mountain Communities, Energy Resources, and Relations with the Swiss Confederation. "These projects represent a total of over €20 million in Italian public funding, complemented by nearly 2 million Swiss francs in co-financing."
The 12 Lombardy-based projects involve the provinces of Sondrio, Varese, Como, and Lecco. The sixteen initiatives focus on areas such as environmental protection, mobility, elderly care, and tourism in cross-border regions. (9colonne)
