The final day of the preliminary phase, held on Sunday in Herning, determined the immediate future of the Italian handball team at the 2025 World Championship in Denmark, Croatia, and Norway. The Azzurri, still at Jyske Bank Boxen, will face Olympic silver medalists Germany, along with the Czech Republic and Switzerland, as the top-ranked team from Group A, following a Sunday that marked the premature elimination of Poland.
The Azzurri will start the main round in Group I with two points, earned from their victory over Tunisia, and will play their first match on January 21 against the Czech Republic at 6:00 PM. The Czech team, coached by Spanish manager Xavi Sabaté, advanced to the main round with two draws: 17-17 against Switzerland and 19-19 against Poland. On January 23, Parisini and his teammates will face Germany at 6:00 PM, and they will conclude their campaign on January 25 in a match against Switzerland at 3:30 PM, just two weeks after their friendly win at Winterthur during the Yellow Cup.
