Bratislava – Diamanti, the latest film by Ferzan Ozpetek, had its Slovak premiere in Bratislava during the Dolce Vitaj festival and will be screening in cinemas across Slovakia, distributed by Filmtopia, until 12 August. The initiative is organized by Filmtopia in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Bratislava.
Set in a renowned Roman theatrical and film costume atelier of the 1970s, the film unfolds to the rhythmic hum of sewing machines and the bustle of work, interwoven with the voices of its female protagonists. Together, they create a microcosm inhabited by courageous, determined women—navigating solitude, passion, anxiety, and unbreakable bonds, where reality and fiction seamlessly blend.
More than an elegant tribute to the female universe—brought to life by a remarkable ensemble of eighteen actresses—Diamanti is also a homage to Italy’s sartorial heritage and fashion artistry. The historic Sartoria Tirelli in Rome, with its vast archives of garments and fabrics, played a key role in the film’s creation, offering inspiration and support to costume designer Stefano Ciammitti.
