From Monday to Friday, BigItalyFocus provides an information overview, ranged from development aid to made in Italy
Belgrade – Running through June 30 at the Museum of Yugoslavia in Belgrade, “Comics Made in Italy. Generations” is a major exhibition curated by Gianni Bono and Giovanni Russo. Organized by Lucca Crea, Fumo di China, and the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade, with the support of the Italian Embassy, the show pays tribute to Italian comics through a journey tracing their development from their origins to the present day. Italy’s Ninth Art, highly regarded in Serbia and across the Balkans, is explored through the work of leading artists from the past, present, and future. Visitors can immerse themselves in a path featuring the key works and magazines that have shaped the evolution of Italian comics, leading up to today’s publishers who bring Italian titles to Serbian readers. The exhibition is divided into several sections: authors, history, banners, casa comics, and Serbian publishers. The opening section presents an overview of Yugoslav and Serbian artists whose work has been widely recognized in Italy, including Sergej Solovjev, Branislav Kerac, and Aleksandar Zograf. This is followed by presentations of three young Italian artists – Giuseppe Palumbo, Sergio Algozzino, and Grazia La Padula – offering insight into some of the most notable contemporary talents. The second section focuses on the history of Italian comics, exploring formats, authors, and stories that have accompanied generations of readers. The third section turns to contemporary comics, showcasing iconic characters and memorable stories reinterpreted in a modern key. Through large-format banners, visitors can see how contemporary artists have revisited and paid tribute to classics, helping new audiences discover their adventures. The “Casa Comics” section examines critical magazines and the role of the intellectual world in the transformation of comics, while the final section offers the opportunity to explore and interact with representatives from Politikin Zabavnik, Grafart, Golconda, Phoenix Press, Forma B, Čarobna knjiga, and Darkwood.
