Friuli, Slovenia and Croatia’s united cinema front

Sept. 2 - Fiction, documentary, animation are the genres that bring together Slovenia, Croatia and Friuli Venezia Giulia. The project, presented yesterday at the Venice Film Festival, aims to encourage creative and commercial ties while focusing on audiovisual and film. The Regional Audiovisual Cooperation and Training, or “Re-ACT” program, is an original initiative dedicated to cross-border co-development of audiovisual projects and the encouragement of new international co-productions. "Re-act" was presented within the Venice Film Market by the President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia, Debora Serracchiani, the Secretary of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, Tamara Perisic, and the Director of the FVG Audiovisual Fund, Paolo Vidali. The FVG Audiovisual Fund, together with its Croatian and Slovenian counterparts, designed "Re-act" as an innovative fund for the co-development of feature films, and as a series of specific training initiatives (on top of the annual workshop edited by TorinoFilmLabm). The initiative shown in Venice is the result of the already successful cooperation between the three funds, which trained and supported local manufacturers, and also created numerous major international co-productions: "Tir", "Zoran, il mio nipote scemo" or "Dancing with Maria," presented in Venice.

REACT’S GOALS

Re-act will have an annual budget of €120,000. The main objective, as pointed out by Paolo Vidali, is to encourage the creation of significant stories specific to the geographic area and able to cross local boundaries through financial support and the opening of new international markets. The Fund co- is aimed at directors and producers who want to co-develop feature films (fiction, documentary, animation and experimental) to encourage the emergence of creative and commercial ties between Croatia, Slovenia and Friuli Venezia Giulia. TorinoFilm will play an important role in this initiative over the next three years, as it will be the "space" professional and educational activity, offering its expertise and experience in writing and project development, and fostering new forms of collaboration.
