Beirut – On September 17, the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA) in Beirut will host a meeting with Francesco Ferrini on the theme "Trees and New People for the Planet." The event will cover the minimum green space required for a dignified human existence, the protection of biodiversity, the importance of trees in combating pollution, and the mitigation of climate change effects. Francesco Ferrini is a Full Professor of Arboriculture and Tree Cultivation at the University of Florence. He has served as President of the Italian Arboricultural Society and received the International Society of Arboriculture's "L.C. Chadwick Award for Arboricultural Research" in 2010 and the ISA Award of Merit in 2019. He is a member of the Accademia dei Georgofili, the Accademia della Colombaria, and the Italian Academy of Forest Sciences. He is the Coordinator of the Scientific Committee of GEA (Green Economy Agriculture), President of the Scientific Committee of the Academy of Biophilia, and President of the Pistoia Horticultural-Ornamental District since 2021. He has published around 380 works and has presented his research at conferences in Italy and abroad. His books include: Amico Albero (with A. Fini, ETS editions, 2017); A proposito di alberi (Giorgio Tesi Editore, 2018); La terra salvata dagli alberi (with L. Del Vecchio, 2020); Resistenza Verde (with L. Del Vecchio, 2021); and Alberi e gente nuova per il pianeta (with L. Del Vecchio, 2022) for Elliot Edizioni. He is also a co-author of the Handbook of Urban Forestry published by Routledge in 2017.
